I’m reading this book called “Tiny Habits” right now, and it basically breaks down the entire process of habits and why it’s so powerful. He talks about three things: an anchor moment, the tiny behavior, and the instant celebration.
When my kids fight, it literally makes me want to scream like a crazy person! My natural instinct would be to yell and freak out. And I’m not saying I’m perfect, I have my moments…. But for the most part, if I can breathe, I can talk kindly. I can separate them and get the story from both sides. Then we can handle the situation.

One of the things that has been eye opening for me is how no matter what we want, we cannot rely on motivation and willpower to carry us through. We are naturally going to cave. So what we can do is make good choices that will lead us closer to our goals.

If you can’t get out of bed in the morning, make it easier to get out of bed and make it more inconvenient to stay in bed. So if your phone is your alarm and it’s right next to your bed (and it’s really easy to hit the snooze), then it’s really easy to grab your phone and just scroll. Set your alarm and put it in the other room!
